Palazzo Massimo alle Colonne – The private chapel

0
In Palazzo Massimo alle Colonne there is a private chapel that you can visit on March, 16th only. It is known because of a miracle done by St. Filippo Neri on March, 16th 1583. On that day, Paolo Massimo, the son of Prince Fabrizio, died despite his young age. St. Filippo, who was a family friend, went to the boy to bless him. He pronounced his name and woke him up, starting to talk with him. Paolo Massimo said to the saint that he was glad to die because, in this way, he could rejoin his mother and sister in paradise. The saint gently touched his head and blessed him, then the boy passed away. This story was kept secret until the death of the saint, when Prince Filippo finally revealed it.
