Perego Garden – God Vertunno

0
Perego Garden is the smallest park in Milan and it is enchanting in Autumn when the centuries-old maple's foliage is bright red-coloured. It was created by the order of the rich Perego di Cremnago family and located where vegetable gardens of the pre-existing Monastery of St. Erasmo used to be. During the years, it has been reduced in size mainly due to road traffic issues, completed in 1928. It was opened as public garden in 1941 and by that time all the statues that used to adorn the garden have been already moved away. Only one statue was left at its original place: the statue of God Vertunno, the legendary God of fruits and gardens.
