Piazza dei Signori 25-27 – The legend of the lyre on the pavement

0
Walking towards Via Dante, on the edge of the road near the portico, one finds an engraving of a lyre (the musical instrument) on the pavement, accompanied by the words 'P.G. 15/07/81'. What does this mean? Legend has it that in the early days of July in the summer of 1891, an unidentified P.G., who was wearing a tie with a lyre-shaped brooch pinned to it, lost his brooch while walking along the portico and never found it again. On the 15th, he returned to the city and retraced his steps to find it on a stone in the pavement. He decided to have his beloved brooch, his initials and the date it was found, engraved on the stone.
