Piazzale Loreto – The corpse of Mussolini

0
Piazzale Loreto is commonly known for being the place where the corpse of Benito Mussolini was first dumped on the ground and then hung upside down. Many peole thinks that he died in Milan but it was actually caught and killed by the partisans in Giulino di Mezzegra, a village near Como, while he was trying to flee to Switzerland with his lover, Claretta Petacci. Their corspes were then brought to Milan and showed in Piazzale Loreto, exactly in the same place where the year before, 15 partisans were executed here and left on public display.
