The Pietraia dei Poeti Museum is located on a hilltop above San Benedetto del Tronto, a few kilometres from the city. It is an 'open air' contemporary art museum, immersed in the unspoilt natural landscape. It is a stony area, sunburnt in summer and often windy. Here, many years ago, the artist Marcello Sgattoni began to place many of his creations, some of them monumental, on this surface. Thus began the hard work of the Maestro and numerous volunteers who were happily involved in setting up the museum route. A route from which you can admire the artist's works, where each work has a story to tell. Like his friendship with the poet Pier Paolo Pasolini, who stayed in San Benedetto for a long period before his death.
