Sagrestia Vecchia (San Lorenzo’s basilica) – Night sky over Florence
Built by Brunelleschi between 1421 and 1426, the Sagrestia Vecchia perfectly fuses its architecture with Donatello's statuary. Its structure is comprised of a cube supporting a hemispherical dome, whose facets are separated by gray stone ribs. Especially attention-worthy is the fascinating fresco adorning the apse's canopy, depicting a view of the sky above Florence on the night of July 4, 1442.
