On the façade of San Miniato al Monte's abbey stands out the image of a "holy vase", likely a reference to the iconic portrayal of the Grail found in the Duomo of Siena. Its placement is no surprise: in all of the Grail's legends the holy cup is placed atop three tables, the same number as the tableaus comprising the church's façade.
