Santa Pelagia – A patron to thespians

0
The church dedicated to St. Pelagia, located at the intersection of via Santa Croce and via San Massimo, is no longer a place of worship. A little-known saint, Pelagia of Antioch was a 3rd-century actress and courtesan who, like Mary Magdalene before her, converted to Christianity and abandoned prostitution. The Catholic Church hails her as the patron saint of musicians, actors, and mimes.
