St. Protaso Oratory – “Gesetta de lusert”

0
"Gesetta de lusert" is a small church located in the Southwestern part of the city, in the middle of the lanes, near Piazza Bolivar. It was built between the 9th and the 12th century, when this area was countryside, and it was used as a barn, weapon storage and hideout of Austrian opponents. There are many legends about this place, for example, it seems that Frederick Barbarossa prayed here in 1162 before attacking the city. Furthermore, there is a fresco of the Madonna and people say that it was covered with a thick layer of lime for 3 times but it always reappeared after each time.
