Temple of Sant’Angelo – Templar symbolism

0
The Temple of Sant'Angelo presents affinities and clues that recall the Knights Templar and their rich and complex symbolism. Built like many other places of worship on an area that has always been considered sacred, Sant'Angelo has a significant circular shape, typical of Templar constructions, a shape that recalls the plan of ancient Jerusalem and symbolises Heaven. Patent crosses appear in several places: a couple are on the jambs of the entrance door, while another is painted on the neck of the Madonna in an interior fresco. If you think about it, the very belt of her dress forms a striking Tau. Inside the temple there are also several five-pointed stars, ancient symbols of pagan protection.
