The Church of St. Mary at the Fountaine – The miraculous well

0
In the place where the Church of St. Mary at the Fountain was built, there once was a well considered thaumaturgical and recommended to those people suffering from arthrosis and rheumatism. The well became popular after healing Carlo d'Amboise, the governor of the city during the administration of Louis XIII of France, who ordered the construction of a place near the fountaine for ill people. However, ordinary water comes out the taps today: due to a fire in a near bitumen plant in the 19th century, the underground well has been contaminated and closed afterwards.
