The house of Michelangelo –

0
The commemorative plaque at the corner of Via dei Fornari and Piazza Venezia reminds that "Here there was the house where Michelangelo the Divine lived and died. SPQR 1871". Michelangelo lived here until his death, on February, 18th 1564; later, the house was bought by one of his disciples, Daniele da Volterra nicknamed "Braghettone" (from the Italian word "Braghe" meaning "Trousers") by the maestro as his duty was to cover the nakedness of some of the characters of "The Last Judgment" in Cappella Sistina. The house was demolished to erect the monument in honour of Vittorio Emanuele II.
