The last work of Dan Flavin –

0
Inside the Chiesa di Santa Maria Annunciata in Chiesa Rossa ("Church of Annunciation of the Blessed Holy Mary") the last work of Dan Flavin "Untitled" has been displayed since 1997. The project was completed just two days before the artist passed away on September 29, 1996. The installation is made of green and blue neon light tubes for the central nave, gold light for the apse, red light for the transept. Blacklight is also used in both the apse and transept. The gold colour in the central altar recalls the mosaics in Byzantine's churches while the colour varation represents the changing sun light during the day, from dawn to sunset.
