The low relief of the abandoned children –
At 22, Via delle Zoccolette, there is a low relief representing two babies: it reminds of an orphanage that used to be in this place. Here, abandoned children were given education; in particular, young girls were taught to sew and other domestic activities in order to help them finding a husband. The name of the street comes from the way the children were called ("zoccolette" in old Roman dialect indicated the orphans) even if the name can also come from the small clogs used by the children.
