The Araba Fenice is a permanent work on display at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. It is made up of three superimposed blocks whose regular grooves are made according to the Vitruvian rule where the material is uniform, while following the natural course of the marble veins where they emerge strongly. The workmanship is a combination of how the vein of the material moves, the entasis and the grooving. It is interesting how the column starts with a mineral effect, then, as it rises, it becomes vegetable and then animal, almost like cartilage, holding together all the passages of nature.
