The serial killer of Palazzo Paesana –

0
On December 12, 1902 little Veronica Zucca, then five years old, was enjoying her Sunday in piazza Savoia when, just a few yards away from her parents' coffee shop, she mysteriously disappeared. Her lifeless body, bearing sixteen stabbing marks, was recovered the following February, by a city worker inspecting the underground levels of Palazzo Paesana. Eighteen months later, young Teresina Demaria disappeared on the stairs in front of her apartment on the Palace's fourth floor. She was found barely alive, sporting three knife wounds. Clearly, a fiend was on the loose. Witnesses led authorities to 24-year-old Giovanni Gioli, a deeply disturbed individual who promptly confessed to the two crimes. He was sentenced to 25 yars in jail, a verdict which he's said to have met with laughter.
