“The Sibyl” – Sharp and pointed
"The Sibyl was created in 1978 by the late sculptor Giuseppe Marinucci from Ascoli. It belongs to the last phase of his artistic production. Just over two metres high, angular and pointed, it does not go unnoticed for the suggestion of its appearance. Its construction is characterised by a skilful assembly of recycled iron materials, which give life to the mythological representation. The name is inspired by the famous Cumaean Sibyl, a legendary woman with divinatory powers who, according to tradition, lived in a cave. The sibyls were virgins endowed with prophetic virtues, inspired by the god Apollo, who were able to give answers and make predictions in an obscure form. They were legendary prophetesses, located in different places in the Mediterranean basin.
