The Malapaga Walls are a section of the 16th-century Genoese city walls, which became famous in the history of cinema thanks to the success of the film "The Walls of Malapaga" (1949), starring French actor Jean Gabin, which won an Oscar for best foreign film. The plot is quite well known: Pierre (a.k.a. Jean Gabin) escapes from France after killing his lover and when he arrives in Genoa, he meets a waitress, Maria, the mother of a child, with whom passion breaks out. But when the two decide to run away together, Pierre is ambushed and arrested by the police.
