The witches’ square –

0
Piazza della Vetra is one of the most scary places in Milan. In past times, there was a bridge, called The Bridge of Death, crossing a small stinky canal that flew here. In this square, people suspected of witchcraft were burned at the stake, e.g. Guglielmina the Bohemian, Manfreda Visconti and Caterina De' Medici, who confessed and was executed after terrible suffering. In the past, a column was also there, the "Infamous Column", dedicated to the poor Mr. Mora, a barber whose house was burned down because he was accused of being a plague-spreader. The column, that doesn't exist anymore, was built exacly where the house was located before being destroyed.
