“Tuttomondo” – The mural on the convent
"Tuttomondo" is a mural designed and drawn by Keith Haring on a wall of the Sant'Antonio convent. The idea for the project came from the artist's meeting with a student from Pisa. The theme is world peace. Thirty figures are depicted in about one hundred and eighty square metres of surface area. Each figure symbolises a different aspect of the world at peace, as the artist intended. In 1989, the year the work was created, Haring involved the entire city in the execution of the mural, who collaborated in the colouring of the silhouettes of which only the outline had been traced. "Tuttomondo" is the only work by the artist that has not been and will not be removed, but will continue to permanently decorate the wall on which it was painted.
