Vatican Museums – The Pontifical Ethnological Missionary Museum

0
The Pontifical Missionary Ethnological Museum was established in 1926 by Pope Pius XI, at the end of the Universal Missionary Exhibition. Inaugurated in the Lateran Palace in 1927, it was only in 1973 that it was set up in the present location of the Vatican Museums. The Museum contains a number of works donated to the Popes by private individuals and the various dioceses, which are of inestimable value. Among the collections are the Borgiano Museum and the collection of prehistoric finds from the British School of Archaeology in Jerusalem.
