Via Caltanissetta 10 – Bitter San Simone
The history of the San Simone bitter is an ancient one, dating back to the 16th century, when a brotherhood of monks in the Dora Grossa district began preparing infusions and remedies for all sorts of ailments: among them was a much-appreciated purifying elixir made from medicinal plants. In 1960, Dr Aldo Fechino rediscovered the recipe for this purifying elixir, the 'modern' production of which dated back to the 1950s and was intended only for pharmacies. Fechino set to work to create a more pleasant version and succeeded after two years of experiments: initially, the new product was also sold only in pharmacies, but then its success led the creator to move to the factory at number 10 Via Caltanissetta, where one of Turin's greatest adventures still continues today.
