Although not many people remember it, until 1881 the present Via Luca Longhi was known as the street of the Ghetto. In fact, a government decree issued in 1515 defined the transfer of all the Jews of Ravenna to this street. To avoid isolation, the houses in the ghetto had communicating courtyards.
