Via Porta di Castro – The missing river

0
In the past, there were rivers running through Palermo and one of these was the "Kemonia" or "Cannizzaro", also known as the river of bad weather because of its torrent-like character during floods. It was between the Kemonia, whose course was largely silted up, and the Papireto, that the first nucleus of Palermo developed. Today, in Via Porta di Castro, which corresponds to the ancient bed of the Kemonia, there is a plaque commemorating this vanished river.
