Villa Lecchi – The man who invented the Carnival confetti

0
Villa Lecchi is one of the most important villas of this area as the factory of Enrico Mangili was located here. Mangili was an industry owner and a philanthropist, famous for having invented the Carnival confetti after he noticed the small pieces of paper coming out the punching machines used in sericolture. The production of coloured confetti started here, and it was also widespread all over the world. Mangili also invented the Carnival paper stripes, inspired by the paper strips used for telegraphs.
