Villa Madama – The history of “Madama”

0
Villa Madama owes its name to "madama" Margaret of Parma, wife of Alessandro de' Medici, who also "gave" her name to Palazzo Madama, the present Senate office building. She was the daughter of Emperor Charles V and held the title of Duchess of Florence, Duchess of Parma and Piacenza as well as Governor of the Netherlands.
